Google I/O 2025: Search Experience Rewritten with AI

  • AI Overviews Rolling Out to Everyone

One of the most notable announcements at the event was the rollout of AI Overviews to all users in the US. This feature allows users to get comprehensive answers to complex queries with a single click, compiled from reliable sources and summarized by AI. For instance, multi-layered searches like "3-day meal plan for new vegan beginners" now provide direct, functional answers instead of a list of links.

  • Multistep Reasoning

Google stated that Search can now understand not only what's asked but also sequential logical steps. For example: I'm going to Paris for 4 days in May. I want to visit museums, but I'd prefer child-friendly ones."For such multi-layered searches, Google will be able to analyze the date, location, activity type, duration of travel, and user preference simultaneously to provide personalized answers.

  • Planning Tool: Meals, Sports, Holidays...

Thanks to the new AI Planning Tools, users will now be able to interactively create meal plans, exercise routines, or travel itineraries with Google Search, which acts like a personal planner. Every plan can be saved, re-edited, or shared as desired.

  • AI Organized Results Page: Categorized Content

The search results page has also visually and structurally evolved with these updates. Google no longer just ranks results; it now automatically categorizes them by topic. For example, in a product search, sections like "professional reviews," "user experiences," and "shopping links" are displayed separately on a single screen.

  • Search in Video

Google has also made it easier to access information within video content. Now, the content of a YouTube video is analyzed by AI, and users can access specific moments in the video within seconds using commands like "show the part of the recipe made with yogurt."

What About SEO?

All these innovations signify the beginning of a new era in the SEO world. Websites must now be not just "optimized for search engines," but also "selectable, understandable, and summarizable by artificial intelligence." Beyond the technical structure, content also needs to be prepared to offer clearer, more precise, and multifaceted information.
